Recent advancements in Nonnegative Matrix Factorization

Upendra Prasad, University of Connecticut

Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is the process of finding approximate factorization of a nonnegative matrix $V$ into nonnegative matrices $W$ and $H$ where rank of $WH$ is smaller than rank of $V$. NMF has attracted considerable attention in the past few years for its various data analysis applications. I will talk about some recent algorithms to solve NMF that perform well especially for large size problems and have good convergence behavior.
